  • Interviewer: What is your real name?
  • Malcolm X: Malcolm.. Malcolm X.
  • Interviewer: That's your legal name?
  • Malcolm X: As far as I'm concerned, it's my legal name.
  • Interviewer: And did you go to court to establish this?
  • Malcolm X: I didn't go to court to be called Murphy or Jones or Smith. Excuse me for answering you this way, but if a Chinese person was to say his name was Patrick Murphy, you would look at him like he was insane. Murphy is an Irish name, a European name, or a name that has a Caucasian or a White background. And a Yellow person - a Chinese man is a Yellow man - and he has nothing to do or no connection whatsoever with the name Murphy, and if it doesn't look proper for a person who's Yellow to walk around being called Murphy or Jones or Johnson or Butch or Powell, I think it would be just as improper for a Black person - or the so-called Negro in this country - to walk around with these names, because during slavery, the slave-master who owned us put his name on us to denote us; to call us his property. When you see a Negro today who's named Johnson, if you go back in his history, you will find that his grandfather, or his grandfather's grandfather or forefathers was owned by a White man named Johnson.
  • Interviewer: I get your point.. Would you tell me what your father's last name was?
  • Malcolm X: My father didn't know his last name. My father got his last name from his grandfather and his grandfather got it from his grandfather, who got it from the slave-master. The real names of our people were destroyed during slavery.
  • Interviewer: Was there any line, any point in the genealogy of your family where you had to use a last name? If so, what was it?
  • Malcolm X: The last name of my forefathers was taken from them when they were brought to America and enslaved. And then, the name of the slave-master was given which we reject.
  • Interviewer: You mean, you won't even tell me what your fathers' supposed last name was?
  • Malcolm X: I never acknowledged it whatsoever.

Short storyish

Planning to write a short story about the troubles of living in a utopian society in your head.

Here’s a quick synopsis.

What if you can forget your troubles, your tribulations and start afresh?

What if you can enter a utopian world where happiness is the only thing present?

And what if you can stay there forever?

In the distant future, mankind are able to travel into an alternate world by linking their minds into a machine. In this world they forget who they are and live a new life, but by doing so they leave their soulless body behind. Meanwhile in reality, things have been chaotic. Towns are desolate, isolated lumps of concrete without a person in sight. There is a need for doctors, engineers and many other professions, but the conscious population is already scarce.

A group of specialists band together to remind the people in the alternative world that they are not real, to convince them back to Earth. But what happens if they, the special team, do not want to return to reality either.

Thus the story begins…

someone help me brush up on my writing please.
